From Mrs. Weesner:

I just wanted to thank everyone for their overwhelming encouragement and support over the last six weeks. As many of you know, entering the "America's Favorite Teacher" contest was a big step outside of my comfort zone. I am glad I chose to enter; I believe it is good to challenge ourselves, and I am definitely braver after this experience. While I am disappointed in the close 2nd place finish in the group finals, the over-arching feeling I am left with is one of deep, deep gratitude. I have the very best job that allows me to work with absolutely incredible students every day. I have the most supportive colleagues who make our school the amazing place that it is. And I get to do this all in our beautiful community of Moscow. If that isn't winning, then I'm not sure what is!

😥 We’ve got some tough news to share. After spending weeks in the #1 position, yesterday’s x2 votes knocked Mrs. Weesner to #2, and the timing couldn’t be worse.

⏰ We have just a little more than 24 hours to go, and only the #1 spot will move on to the quarterfinals round.

Tomorrow voting closes. And we need every single person in this community to vote TODAY and tomorrow.

If you've voted every day — you are incredible. Thank you.

If you forgot some days — it's not too late. Vote right now---and set a timer to vote tomorrow.

If you've been meaning to share this — today is the day.

top 5
Thanks to your amazing support, Mrs. Weesner is doing great with the "America's Favorite Teacher" contest. Not only did she make the cut-off for the top 20 teachers in her group of 74, she has consistently been #1 in her group! We want to keep the momentum going and keep her at the top!

This contest is much longer than we initially thought, with cut-offs for the top 15, top 10, top 5 and finally the top contender in each group continuing throughout the month of April. All of her current votes will continue to cumulate until April 23rd.

You can help Mrs. Weesner win this contest and bring Bill Nye to our school by continuing to vote every day!

We asked some of Mrs. Weesner's students what they'd want the world to know about her.
Here's what they said. 🌟

⭐ “Going to EXL with Mrs. Weesner was the highlight of my week. She made everything, no matter how hard the task, really fun and helped me do so many things that I could never do alone.” –CW, current 6th grader, former student

⭐“Mrs Weesner is super kind, and a great listener who always hears what you have to say.” –FM, current 5th grade student

⭐ “She encouraged me to explore my interests and really kickstarted my love of science.” -RB, current sophomore, former student for 4 years

⭐ “She makes me feel seen and heard and I always know she listens to me” –MV, current 4th grade student.

Out of the mouths of the kids whose lives she's changed.

We're more than halfway through voting. If you've been voting every day — THANK YOU. If you forgot — today's a great day to restart. Every vote counts.

We asked parents what Mrs. Weesner has meant to their family.

Here's what they said. 👇
💬 “I think that for both of our kids Mrs. Weesner cemented for them the idea that it was good to want to learn, just for the sake of learning. That is something that will stick with you for life.”
— Current and former parent

💬 “My daughter has gained a tremendous amount of confidence and absolutely loves Mrs. Weesner's extended learning class. Mrs. Weesner is an expert at instilling a growth mindset in all of the students she teaches. This is something that is especially important for my daughter who is prone to frustration and feeling bad about herself when she can't figure out something right away.”
— Michael, parent of a 3rd grader

💬 “She sees them as whole people -- with interests, talents, skills, worries, fears, and flaws. She appreciates and accepts them as they are while opening doors for them to grow as learners and humans.”
— Tara, former parent of 2 students

26 years of this. Day in, day out.

If you haven't voted yet today — this is your reminder. 30 seconds. Real impact.

Parents, Staff, and Community,

As of 7:30 tonight, power has been restored to all of our school buildings and we plan to resume normal operation tomorrow, December 18th 2025. See you then! Just two more days until a break!

Also, to Kylie, Wyatt, Boaz, and every other student giving me a hard time about never calling a snow day... Today totally counts as a snow day.

Yesterday our Physical Activity Club “cadets” working hard in a boot camp-themed workout — just like real police officers in training! Students rotated through six full-body stations: army crawl, tire ladder (agility rings), log roll, jumping jacks, squats, and push-ups. Officer Summers joined us to share about his job, what he enjoys most, and why he chose to become a police officer. To wrap things up, we played a classic game of Cops and Robbers — the perfect mix of fun and fitness! And of course, no PAC session is complete without chocolate milk to refuel. Thank you Officer Summers!
