Current Information
We are a neighborhood school, located in east-central Moscow. We have approximately 250 students each year, kindergarten through fifth grade. Lena Whitmore Elementary shares the site with a city park. Our school is able to enjoy the playground area during school day and then it becomes Moscow Parks and Recreation jurisdiction in the evenings, weekends, and non-school days.
Moscow School District’s school calendar has 170 student days and our school day for students is from 8:15 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:15 a.m. - 2:15 p.m. on Friday.
Student and Staff Demographics
Lena Whitmore Elementary is the ideal sized elementary school…two classes at each grade level, k - 5. Starting in 16-17 we began offering full-day kindergarten district-wide. We are also fortunate enough to have full-time PE and full-time Music specialists. In addition to that, we have a full-time Title 1 teacher, two full-time Exceptional Child teachers, a .6 FTE Extended Learning teacher, school counselor four days/week, and a half-time School Psychologist.
Thanks to Moscow School District class size limitations, we average 21 students per class.
Student/teacher ratio: 256/12= 21.3 (only taking into account our twelve k - 5 classroom teachers)
